
“…who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify
for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.” (Titus 2:14)
The shovel of the gospel will uproot corrupt desires and allow for new roots of desires to grow in the heart.
“It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live
self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age …” (Titus 2:12)
The hymn “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing” invites us to confess what we want and what we should desire in our heart:
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it; Prone to leave the God I love
Here's my heart, O, take and seal it; Seal it for Thy courts above."
Working in the soil of our desires is not an easy job, but is a necessary one.
